bedtimes, rituals and traditions

We're pretty big on traditions around here. We like doing the same thing at the same time for the same reason. It helps build our family memory box and helps keep us sane when we move all over the country. Last year we lived in three different provinces. Each place felt like home, each was home because we were there and we made it our home by keeping our rituals the same.

These little rituals are what make up the tapestry of our little family. So many of my childhood memories revolve around a special tradition, a unique way my family had of living life and I want the same for our children.

Kilmeny is at the delightful age where she is beginning to understand the sequence of events. And so we continue the traditions.
Bedtime means snuggles on the couch with a couple favorite books being read aloud. Current favorites being You are Special, Goodnight Moon, Guess How Much I love You? and Time for Bed. All perfect for snuggling up and being cozy before bed. It's a quiet time, a cozy time, a bonding time. One that will continue for many years to come.

  1. Mmm, that's special! Elianna is actually starting to clue in to toys and books now. It's cool to see her growing and learning!
